If your game is mechanically sound but feels like it sucks the answer is almost always acuz it dont look and sound too gud. Throw in a bit of particle effects, make the SFX punchier, add a cool light, basically things that mask or break up repetition and keep the brain from filtering it out.

I realized the AI was getting stuck in death spirals and not actually leaving. I've fixed that by including a timer that ticks down if the AI is within fighting range of a CPU target it's fighting. When that runs out, it enters an aggression immunity state where only the player becomes targetable.

AI upgrades are complete! CPU players now: * Roam closer to the player at low population density * Navigate more intelligently in combat * Are capable of infighting * Get mad the more they get damaged
