Monday at the shop

Today I: • brewed 5 gallons of light lager that came out exactly to the numbers. Hope it’s doesn’t suck! • transferred a batch of apricot cider to a keg and gosh, is it ever tasty. • processed and bottled a gallon of my newest hot sauce. Jalapeño + green apple. Low heat, high flavor. 😋

First charge of Hallertau Mittelfrüh as bittering hops. Boils for 60 minutes.

Been jamming to Simon Shackleton all week. Really great work tunes.

Hot break. Stirring the protein down so it doesn’t boil over and make a huge mess.

Mashin’ time! My fam wants to host a crab boil with a big group of their friends in a few weeks. They don’t particularly enjoy fancy beer, so this is my attempt at a light lager. Not my preference and I’ve never tried to make this style before but it’s still a fun experiment.

Equipment is all prepped, made myself a latte, and now sparge water is heating up. Ready for another brew day. :)

Started up a batch of apricot cider last night using yeast I harvested off my last brew. I was thrilled to come home from work to find it gurgling away happily in the corner of the garage. Already smells amazing. :)
