The tiny pixel eyes of both Hoi and Moon Child can be interpreted in two ways: black bead eyes with a highlight and rim light, or a large black pupil with an edge of sclera and a highlight on the pupil. I prefer the last option, also when drawing them larger. It gives them more personality.

When making larger pixel artwork, I like to make a pure-pixel sketch, like I would when drawing on paper. Here's my sketch for the title picture of the 1997 Windows version of Moon Child, and the final image. It would look different if I'd make it today, but it's a nice reflection of the 1990s.

For Moon Child's title picture, I initially had in mind to make him jump to the foreground, and made this animation sketch for that. But, as with many concepts surrounding a project, this wasn't realized in the end. 🙂

Back in the late 1980s, a video digitizer was connected to my Amiga, using an old security camera for input. Scanning an image was so slow, if you moved your face during the process, you could get wacky results. One night we had lots of fun with that, resulting in the true faces of Team Hoi. 😁

Lady Enigma. Started this one in MS Paint with mouse, completed it in Clip Studio (Joined the character and background PNGs, added borders, drew clouds and added some red pixels and details to separate sections)
