It's interesting that anyone would be surprised by this. They are large language models, not large fact models. They are very good at language; it's unsurprising that they aren't terribly good at facts.

In the 2015-2016 academic year I taught 10 courses as a CUPE3904 sessional lecturer at TMU (formerly Ryerson). I came to Dalhousie on a 50% FTE limited term appointment and was taken aback at how far behind the local @cupe3912.bsky.social stipends were compared to 3904. 1/2

Today would have been 2 of 4 labs for GIScience and spatial data, and the lecture for my other fall course, Environmental Remote Sensing. This course teaches students how to do perform thematic data extraction from optical satellite imagery. Seems like a useful skill given recent fires. 1/2

DFA proposed a $500/yr increase in the Health Spending Account. About 60% of DFA members max out this benefit. This increase would cost @dalhousieu.bsky.social approx $300k/yr. But they wouldn't discuss it. The Board has saved $5.6 MILLION by having faculty locked out for 2 weeks. #keepdalstrong

My 2nd year comparative politics course was supposed to start shortly. Among other themes, we discuss how wealthy elites may undermine core democratic principles and practices. Students will have a first hand experience of such top down destruction of an institution this year. #keepdalstrong
