People For Bikes is partly to blame for this mess by creating the three class system which is more complicated than it needs to be. We need one class and no constant "On" throttle. A bike must be pedaled most of the time or it isn't a bike.

Why can't Strava do 2 things? Make it easy to track your dog's mileage and notify me of mileage on bike components. It will tell me when shoes hit a certain mileage, why can't it do that with a chain?

This has the chance to snowball into some terrible shit. The bike industry and its advocate groups really need to do some work. I think that throttle bikes have to go because they feed the negative perception most people have of ebikes, even though the real problem is illegal e-motorcycles.

Had a reminder today why I've stopped calling out when passing. Had an ebiker meandering on the center line of 2-way bike lane. Called out "On your left". He actually looks back at me riding in the left lane and then moves left. I've tried "Passing", "Can I get by", a bell. Nothing works. 1/

All these things are true: Electric vehicles ARE better than ICE vehicles, despite their issues. When vehicles get “better,” too often people buy BIGGER vehicles & drive even more. EV’s still pollute, take too much space, lead to too many deaths etc Fewer cars, less driving is the REAL solution.

I sure wish I lived in a country with functioning legislatures and court systems.
