after learning of the mental health crisis happening at mt. edgecumbe high school, a bunch of us got together and invited students for a meal and crafts a local pizza spot, mean queen, donated food along with about a dozen community members we heard students missed their dogs so poppy came too!

gunalchéesh (thank you) to our city workers and neighbors out plowing the roads, driveways, and sidewalks! my aunt saw a side-by-side plowing the sidewalks by blatchley and asked me to pull into a driveway so she could give them some cash to get a warm coffee to show our appreciation

i got booted from bluesky and finally got to log back in 😅 sitka’s been getting dumped on (snow/hail) lately and in between snow showers today we got thunder and lightning! very unusual

4 generations of my family have attended mount edgecumbe high school my grandparents met there after ww2 and i have nephews that recently graduated after learning of the mental health crisis happening, we’ve started organizing ways we can give back and help the students and i’m so proud of them 🥹

the mental health crisis at mt. edgecumbe high school made the paper today 8 students were admitted to our hospital in november for suicidal ideation—4 of them intentionally overdosed on medication the administration then said that “seven students over a two-week period was not a huge number” 😡

the sourdough adventures continue! on today’s menu: sourdough soft gingerbread cookies and cranberry sourdough steamed pudding FROM SCRATCH! like, i ground the cardamon and nutmeg myself. the dough smelled sooooo good and my sourdough starter “smokey” is around a century old

people in sitka work hard for their money. some have 2-3 jobs but today, ppl woke up without snap benefits or are on furlough—so sitka showed up and filled our tribe’s buses with food for them they could have spent their hard earned $$ on anything but today it went towards helping our neighbors 🥹
