75% done with rewrites of book 3 of Houses of Bone and Smoke. Pretty sure my characters are going to file a complaint somewhere. These conditions are pretty intolerable.

Captain America: Brave New World was fun. Not the best Marvel film I've ever seen. Certainly not the worst. It introduced some compelling possibilities for the future of the MCU. I look forward to what's coming.

Currently reading Black in White by JC Andrijeski. Fantastic book and her character and scene descriptions are vibrant. Everything just jumps off the page. Quality read. A few years older, but really enjoyable.

I just saw a book reviewer say they will not give a book a 5 star rating unless it's written in 1st person because they don't consider it engaging enough. I'm sorry, what? I get we all have our preferences, but I can't take someone who says that seriously.

Hey, Canadian readers, Kobo is a Canadian owned company and has a competitor to KU called Kobo Plus. There aren't as many authors in the program as KU owns the glut of the market, but something to think about. 😉

I have made it to the halfway point of rewrites on book 3. I must be getting to the swampy middle, because it's starting to feel like a dumpster fire again.

Managed to get rid of co-pilot. If you go into your account portal on Microsoft, manage subscription, cancel, you MAY have an option to switch to Microsoft 355 Family Classic. This is the same price as it used to be with NO CO-PILOT. Looks like it won't go away until my subscription renews though.

Electric Callboy's new single "Elevator Operator" is a hilarious banger. Check out the music video if you haven't yet. Love a metal band with a sense of humor.

What if you add magic to cyberpunk? That's Frostbite and Fire. This science fantasy novel follows Dr. Evelyn Stirling as she investigates the death of a street thug, delivering surprises with every chapter. Think Ghost in the Shell, but with a twist that'll keep you guessing.

1/2 I'm reading through Alchemy of Souls by
@thomaskcarpenter.bsky.social
, which is book 3 in the Hundred Halls series. I'm pretty happy with it because he avoided an obnoxious trope I see way too often. The protagonist is tricked into doing something terrible and no one believes her,

It's Tuesday, which means THE TEETH OF DAWN comes out in a week. I wrote this book for a reason. It has parallels to events happening now. One of the primary themes centers around how resistance can take many shapes, and many of those shapes can be effective, but not without organization.

I just finished watching season 2 of Castlevania: Nocturn. Excellent season. Absolutely outstanding. IGN: Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2's surprising lack of depth and emotional resonance is offset by its excellent cast. 3 stars. Me: Did we watch the same show? Did Netflix not pay their bill?

Thinking about David Lynch's work a lot this week. I grew up with Dune, found Twin Peaks and his other films as a teenager, and discovered Rammstein because of Lost Highway. His work has been so influential to me and my life. Want to know why I'm weird? David Lynch.

I just finished Trials of Magic by Thomas K. Carpenter. It's book 1 of the Hundred Halls series. It's a fun, fast New Adult/College Urban Fantasy series. I bought all five books as an omnibus and immediately started book 2, Web of Lies.

So far, BlueSky is a breath of fresh air. I forgot what it was like to be on a social media platform that wasn't full of ads and bots. It's also nice to be able to read posts without having them snatched away before I can finish.

I'm 50% of the way through book 3 in Houses of Bone and Smoke, but due to edits for book 2, I have to rewrite just about all of it. This works better though. When your editor is right, he's right.
