My niece went to see a show at a venue I went to as a teen, and posted a video of the opener covering one of my favourite songs ever (also from my teens), and I feel very old and very proud that my nieces all have good taste.

Living in the Midwest is great because half of the year, your garage is a giant walk-in freezer.

Sometimes the year end lists don't capture my actual favourites because of all the ways I listen to music (TIDAL, my iTunes collection, records, videos on YouTube, in the car with Gina) but Samia really was my most played this year. I listened to songs from Bloodless everywhere.

Thankfully TIDAL doesn't track the embarrassing amount of Smashing Pumpkins bootlegs and '80s music videos I've consumed in other apps this year.

Listening to Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness in the car and having a moment over the drums on ‘Galapagos’ and ‘Porcelina of the Vast Oceans.’ I went to a Jimmy drum clinic and this humble dude being one of the greatest drummers in history created cognitive dissonance.

Um, the Smashing Pumpkins/Mellon Collie Lyric Opera thing was actually very good. It is impressive how well those songs worked in that format, and I got to go with a friend I haven’t seen in 18 years that I met on a Pumpkins message board, in memory of another friend from same.
