Finished The Excavation of Hob's Barrow. Excellent point-and-click Victorian horror with a smidge of Lovecraft. Feels like an Eggers film at times. Fully recommended for slow, cosy horror fans. I comment @cloakanddaggerg.bsky.social and can't wait for their next game.

Just finished reading the Hall of Records in The Neverhood. I love this game and its enormous lore wall.

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is such a cool game. Following the guy who killed your whole clan into the afterlife, so then you can join forces with your entire dead clan to raid his fortress is just the raddest thing you can imagine.

Adventure game masterpieces. Wish Kojima went back to making these kinds of games.

Finished Princess Peach: Showtime. While a game that's much simpler in design than Nintendo's usual core titles, it's still very impressive on its variety of styles and gimmicks, and it delivers a ton of fun with the theater play sets. Hoping more Peach games can be made.

I've just completed something I've been meaning to do for over a year: My playthrough of The Crimson Diamond by @juliaminamata.bsky.social. An amazing investigation adventure game in a classic style. I played The Colonel's Bequest right before so I could properly appreciate the style.

Finished Donkey Kong Bananza. Beautiful, delightful experience. Love how they've revitalised DK for a brand new age. He could surpass Mario as Nintendo's symbol with the amount of charisma he oozes in this adventure. Switch 2 also handling itself really well with crazy physics.

Death Stranding 2 instantly having Cyborg Ninjas and a huge bunch of Metal Gear elements and being a vast improvement upon 1, makes me feel like Kojima finally learned to give in. He is that guy, and being that guy is the coolest thing ever.

Finished all the cups in Mario Kart World! Loved the game as an intro to what the new Switch 2 generation has to offer from Nintendo. Lots of attention to details, from the music to the tracks.

Finished Onimusha 2! Fantastic remaster, the quality of life additions are wonderful, in particular the analog controls. The game's an absolute classic with touched-up pre-rendered backgrounds and classic Capcom action. Was a thrill to go through, love this era of games.

Finished two games this week. Kathy Rain 2 and Expedition 33. Two excellent, entirely different games, but that define the very best of their genres. It's been a great year for games.

Finished Dredge. Quite a fun game where you play a little boat that fishes around a bunch of islands and searches for treasure. In the middle, some decent lovecraftian horror elements are in the mix. Trouble is, none of these go in interesting directions.

This gives me life. Absolutely beautiful art by my wife.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition has been finished. At LOOOOOOOOONG LAST, two hundred and sixty-one hours later, it's finally done. What a doozy of a game. Enormous in every way. Fantastic experience, but definitely not for everyone.

I absolutely love it. So wonderful. :3

Finished Crow Country! Terrific 90s-styled survival horror game. The artstyle is excellent and truly fitting of the era, but what I praise the most about the game, is how unserious it can be, colorful and with a sense of humor. Wonderful game, @sfbdim.bsky.social. Look forward to the next.

Finished SIGNALIS at last. A spectacular game I was not expecting to enjoy this much. Hits a very particular point aesthetically, fulfills the very gratifying older survival horror formula extremely well, and ends up being one of the most complete experiences I've seen.

Finished Split Fiction. What an enormous success of a game. While I might have my criticism about the dialogue in Hazelight games, they're unparalelled in talent when it comes to visual directing, innovating gameplay features and taking advantage of a GAME as a medium. BEAUTIFUL.

Started Signalis. Flabbergasted at how good this game is so far. Holy crap, it's been a while since a survival horror got tone and mood this well. The direction is amazing.

Finished Far: Changing Tides. What a wonderful game. While a fully different experience from Lone Sails, still a beautifully made one. I really appreciated the change in vehicle and the variety of functions the player was now in charge of. Both games make for a fantastic ride.

In the last few days, I've gone through quite a few games. Gonna try and keep up the pace for the rest of the year, there's some heavy duty releases coming soon and I want to keep up with my backlog as well.

Clunk be damned, I still love Angel of Darkness.

Finished Voodoo Detective. A very welcome surprise of a point and click adventure game. Look at that art! Why didn't this game get more attention back when it originally release? Fantastic sense of humor, great voice acting, and fun puzzles.

Finished The Spirit And The Mouse. A small enjoyable experience, where you play a mouse with electric powers giving back the light to a small french town with your good deeds. It's short and easy, but very fun while it lasts.

Finished Legacy of Kain: Defiance. A spectacular ending to one of the greatest sagas in games. The best cast I've ever seen in any game, doing their final bow in a grandiose, but still intimate conclusion.

Finished Soul Reaver 2! What a terrific chapter in the Legacy of Kain saga. While showing its age, the game tells an impeccable chapter of the series, with some of the best moments in the overall story.

'Homeworld' games are such a deep well for me in terms of finding things to post. It's one of those rare series where the minute to minute gameplay is so intricately visually detailed that sometimes you just have to stop doing what you're doing and take it all in... ('Homeworld 2' - 2003)
