I've been playing Fire Emblem for near two decades now, and played every game in the series. Nothing hits me harder than 3H, and I think in the end it's because of the characters. Nobody is just a bit. Everyone is connected to the world. People are flawed, but in ways that make them interesting.

From the New World is needs more love Like, okay SH2 was impossible to follow up, its bar too high. FtNW wisely decides to jump as far away in setting as possible, and build on the things that were good in SH2 but didn’t define it It’s such a great tough-but-fair game, which is hard in JRPGs!

Part of what makes Edelgard a compelling character is how she makes morally questionable decisions to achieve her goals. Unless a misogynist without media literacy is criticizing her, in which case she has never done anything wrong in her life.
