Speaking as an anthropologist, I would strongly, STRONGLY advise you to start preserving physical media of things that are important to you, especially racially or queer focused media. That means physical books, physical DVDs, and digital files stored locally.

This would be a really lovely time to send a positive comment to a writer or artist in one of your fandoms! A small act of kindness might be exactly what someone needs today.

Most of us turned to a song, or a book, or a show today, at some point. It's easy to take that for granted and scorn anybody else for doing what you did without thinking. The humanities buoy the psyche. Go ahead and share your stuff. An artist's insurance bill doesn't get paused for tragedy.

Now more than ever is the time to stop clutching your pearls over queer art and fiction that you find "uncomfortable". You can, will, and have contributed to the mindset that queer art deserves censorship. Let people be freaks. DEFEND your freaks. Embrace the freak you've been hiding inside.

Take it from a librarian, the smallest things count! Website traffic, social media likes, newsletter sign-ups - this is vital data, evidence we use to prove that we are needed. And of course, every item you borrow, every resource you use, every program you drop in on ACTIVELY helps us.
