Another update to this tutorial -- Dithered Alpha! This gives much smoother shadows, which are quite a bit more convincing than the hard edges I had before! Only drawback is it can make the clouds themselves look a bit pixelated.

Something I only just now considered: In a multiplayer game of Godscrown, once you lose, you're kind of just forced to watch the game play out among the other players. How might I make that more interesting? ( Jam version for context, gameplay will be similar ) #gamedev #indiedev #feedbackwanted

Ooo #FragmentFriday, I like it! Here's one I often think about, when I was first learning art and Godot. Slime Pinball! I had no solid plan for it, just really wanted to throw a slime around. There were some vague plans of making it a creature-collector in a terrarium with bug enemies

Been spending time working on my company site, been thinking of typography, fonts and what not. I'm moving forward with a strong No-AI message, and I'd like to back that up with hand built assets for the site. Custom assets, human made fonts. A verifiable history in being made by people.

Right now feels like the time to act. As AI cannibalizes the career I had and the career I want, I feel it's important to ensure that as a consumer and a creator I push forward human-made art. Godscrown is my final attempt to stay in this career, and if it fails then I probably wind up homeless.

Been testing out the font I've been working on for Godscrown! While I definitely wanted some Old English / Gothic inspiration here, I had to tone it down quite a bit for lowercase letters to make this readable. What do you think? Reasonable? Should I simplify even further?

In a rare moment of solidarity I have attempted to make a CRT shader. Did CRTs in 16:9 aspect ratio ever even exist? This probably won't wind up in the final game but it was interesting to try out!

Alright, the decision has been settled! The pixelated aesthetic is staying in Godscrown. That includes the horror art! But there are some new tricks up my sleeve for rendering them in 3D.

So today I locked in™️and set up GodotSteam, hooked up Godscrown, and set up (optional) Steam Input support! Tomorrow, I figure out Steam Multiplayer Lobbies!

One of the things I live by is that if you find something is fighting you, try attacking it from a different angle. I've been playing around with modeling rounded dice and the UVs were getting wonky when beveling. #blender #3dart #gamedev #dice

Been experimenting with recreating the detective from Godscrown in 3D. It's not quite the same, and it certainly loses some of the charm of pixel art... but this opens up the door for custom roles by swapping out parts of the model. #gamedev #art #pixelart #3d #godscrown #indiedev

I've probably mentioned it before, but I really wasn't an artist before AI came along. I've always had an admiration for game art and especially the concepts you could find through extras like Mortal Kombat's Krypt. I don't want to see that go away. I started learning art to keep it alive.
