Tremendously disappointing to have played so well earlier in the tournament, only go out without really firing a shot in the knockout rounds. Yes, England are an incredible rugby team - and currently well ahead of Scotland. But Scotland are playing so poorly. Gifting possession in the set piece too.

Well that was about what you'd expect. First few minutes was exactly the right approach, clearances have been good. But so many errors in setpiece and handling just gave England a lovely supply of ball to pin them in their half. Think they just need to go out with ridiculous intensity 2nd half.

33 minutes in and Scotland persist with kicking off directly to Aitchison. Who always returns the ball to halfway. And Scotland immediately lose their lineout to gift England possession. DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT AT KICK OFFS FFS!! #ENGvSCO

Is this a case of Canada is playing badly or Scotland is playing really well? Isn’t this so far tighter than expected?

Scotland have a fairly universal Scotland problem, the pack struggle to punch holes. When they can, the backs are so much more effective... Sadly too many momentum killing errors at the moment

Maybe - just maybe, the Springbok ‘middle of the field during open play’ maul setup isn’t the ground/game breaking innovation content producers eager for clicks & money initially suggested it might be. (P.S. Scotland supporters already knew this as Toonie tried it years before Rassie copied it…)
