John Bennett tells a penicillin reminiscent discovery story of finding a Streptomyces species that has antifungal properties against key pear pathogens. The genome for this strain is a mixture of linear and circular contigs. Strep culture filtrate can inhibit post harvest fungi. #PlantHealth2025

Joanna Kud calls attention to nematode effectors, often overlooked in the plant-microbe community. A ubiquitin ligase effector from Globodera suppresses plant immunity, but also impacts stability of other nematode proteins encoded in its genomic neighborhood. #PlantHealth2025
