Well, 15 went there for dinner tonight the lucky sod, whilst we had to pretend that our Gousto fajitas were Masterchef worthy. Which obviously they really really were not.

15’s best mate’s sister is on the current series of Masterchef and I’m now wondering how I get invited round for dinner.

Feeling a bit bloody proud of myself today as I have managed to complete my Level 6 Certificate in Careers Leadership in the last 6 months, in the face of 3 family bereavements including my mum, a very challenging year at work & living with ME. Go me! Next stop new job (a promotion) & more study!

I had microblading yesterday for the first time and whilst I totally trust the process, let’s just say I am very glad I’m not going to be seeing many people this week! 😂😂

After a couple of weeks of galavanting we’ve now returned to the real world. It’s been a rough few months losing father in law, husband’s Nana & my mum all in the space of 3 months so it’s been nice to disengage from every day life & spend quality time together. The cats were very pleased to see us!

Got home from Croatia Wednesday evening, did a shit ton of washing, said goodbye to the lads Thursday evening so they could head off on holiday with their dad, got on a plane to Lanzarote on Friday and were dangling our feet in our swim up pool of our adults only all inclusive hotel by the evening.

We’re re-watching Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip at the mo. It is such a shame it never got more than one season as it’s absolutely fantastic.

Croatia is utterly beautiful. Our apartment is right on the beach so I fell asleep to the sound of the waves last night, and then spent the afternoon swimming in the sea. Teenagers have also given it the seal of approval! 10/10 thoroughly recommend!

After a full on day yesterday for my mum’s funeral, a lovely celebration of her life but exhausting, I thought today the best way to recover was with a 5 hour interview process for a new job on 3 hours sleep. I was up at 3:50am wondering if I could do it. Well I did it & I smashed it & got the job!

My mum died recently & funeral is tomorrow in CofE church next to my childhood home. She was a practicing Catholic so we’ve arranged for the parish priest to give her the Last Rites in the chapel of rest at the funeral home today. 15yo has asked when the priest is “going to read Nana her rights”!

As someone who went through their teen years in the 90s it amuses me no end that my teenage (19 and 15 year old) children think I would be horrified by some of the things they/their friends get up to.

A year ago (thanks Timehop) my usually well behaved 15yo persuaded his mate to climb into back of this already broken chair at school & I got called about it. Obv I supported school & he was in trouble but husband & I laughed privately imagining his mate in there going “yep, you’re right, I fit!”

It was the husband’s birthday yesterday and he deserves the best of everything always, it’s a privilege growing older with such an all round awesome person. Also I am quite pleased that I managed to capture some of his impressive athletic ability in this little collage.

Two years ago I quit my job with no job to go to deal with my health issues. I was depressed & struggling to see a time where work would be possible or have purpose. Now I’m in a job I love with the direction I needed & today that has resulted in my school being finalists for an award.

Twice this week I have dreamt I went out and forgot to put on underwear. Having googled this for a dream interpretation there are two completely opposing reasons suggested so that’s helpful.

There are many reasons I married
@pahunt.bsky.social
but this is a perfect example of one: Me: I have a theme tune stuck in my brain, you’ll never guess it in a million years, it’s so random! Paul: Fraggle Rock?! Me: Whaaaaaat?! Yes! In 10 years together we’ve never mentioned Fraggle Rock before!

Having started ER from the beginning a few months ago, we are now up to mid-season 12. It’s still really good, but I definitely feel it peaked at around seasons 6-8 (along with the very first episode of season 9).

Anyone else catastrophise as a defence mechanism? My assessor booked 45 min feedback session for my 1st assignment for my careers leader qual & I convinced myself I’d submitted total dogshit needing re-writing. Turns out a few tweaks covered with a short professional discussion all that’s required!

In other news, my possibly controversial opinion of the day is that relationships are never hard work if they are with the right person.

I’m in midst of Level 6 Careers Leadership certification course & a) for 1st time in my life I’m genuinely motivated to study, b) it took me to my late 40s to work out what I want to do when I grow up & c) that turned out to be helping young people work out what they want to do when they grow up!

Just had a visit with my mum and am feeling very reflective. It’s weird to think that my mum is still here and I can sit and talk to her and stroke her hair, and yet it’s been years and years since she and I had a proper conversation, and a very long time since she knew who I was.

I love how songs can so powerfully evoke memories. This song just came on my Spotify & I still know it word perfectly. It reminds me of holidays to France with my parents arguing with my brother in the back seat about whose side the cool box was most on! 😂

Total first world problem, but I’m going to London today with 15yo and apparently the warmest it’s going to get is 16 degrees, but currently it’s 6 degrees and I have no idea what to wear for that kind of weather. I suspect whatever I chose I will end up either too warm or too cold.

We’ve spent last few months rewatching
#ER
& we’re up to mid-season 9. This show will always be my absolute favourite, it’s brilliant, but watching it so quickly rather than weekly with breaks between seasons is far more harrowing! That said, Noah Wyle’s new show
#ThePitt
is also incredibly good.

I’ve reached the stage of term where I’m juggling so much that this is what my brain feels like it’s doing. Still, I get a nice rest over the Easter holidays finishing off my first level 6 careers leader certification unit 🤔😵💫😂

If you need some serious laughter in your life then you need to watch

because it is pure hilarious joy. Every single one of the comedians involved is brilliant but I have a special place in my heart for
@bobmort.bsky.social
whose songs for Daisy May Cooper were beyond genius.

My 84 year old father had to drive me to work today so I thought I’d give him a flashback to my teenage years and made him drop me around the corner so nobody would see me get out of his car.

My most challenging (in terms of organising) event of the school year requires me to find local businesses for 240 Year 9 students to visit in groups of 10-15, providing meaningful workplace encounters, across 2 inflexibly set mornings with a budget of zero & must be walkable from the school site.

I had minor surgery a few days ago (teeth & jaw) and have now reached the stage where I look as if I’ve had a bit of a scuffle and have been left with an impressive bruise. Obviously if that was the case the other person would have come off far worse.
