A 30+ yr contract is unheard of for ANY animal control contractor. DeBlasio and Justin Brannon pushed it through with little public input and no provisions for periodic review. Maybe @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social new Office of Animal Welfare (as yet not established per city charter) can look into it.

We adopted a dog from ACC 3 weeks ago and it was heartbreaking going there. The poor dogs are so stressed out and they are all medicated! 😭 The assessments of dogs aren't done well and they probably say mosy of the adoptable dogs aren't. Such a sad experience but I'm glad we at least saved one. 🐾

Please establish the Animal Welfare office described in the city charter. It currently does not exist. Create a mayor’s Animal Welfare Board. It does not exist either. And create a citizens animal control advisory body like other cities have. Thank you
