the challenge for me messing with some of these brushes is finding settings that very smoothly lets me do highlights/shadows with minimal need to use a secondary blending tool while also maintaining some degree of roughness/texture so it doesn't look too flat and plastic-y

I'm not super precious about my art in the way some people are when they talk about how important a gallery is, I place more importance on just being able to go "okay here's all my cool shit" and dropping a fat fucking binder of pics on your lap lmao

another rub with the gallery sites pertaining to my own interests, is, of course, just what they allow. I'd maintained a mostly comprehensive dA gallery over the years but the second I got into huge gushing dongs it was like well okay I can't upload those there lol

there is some appeal to just dumping everything on a booru-style site and letting the mob sort all the tags out lol

I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.
