Update: The final plenary was supposed to start an hour ago, but as in most COPs, countries rarely respect the timing. It's now resuming. 🇨🇴 Susana Muhamad, COP16 pres, opens saying "let the force be with us, with the time."

Update: Plenary just resumed. COP16 President Susana Muhamad of 🇨🇴 says that "there was constructive discussion" in the afternoon, which led to "a very well advanced proposal." That potential new compromise will now be cleaned and published at 7:30pm for all countries to review.

It's the 3rd (and last) day of COP16.2 in Rome, where countries are trying to agree on a new strategy to channel billions into biodiversity conservation. They're still stumbling on whether to create a new global biodiversity fund, but the 🇨🇴presidency is hopeful a deal is near.
