My thoughts are with the people of Western Alaska. If emergency funds are needed, or funding needs to be reimbursed, I will absolutely support it this coming session. I hope and trust that our emergency services personnel will do all that they can.

Democrat Forrest Dunbar was on Nat Guard training in Poland and got personal leave, and bought his own ticket, to get back to AK and vote for the override. If you are wondering why the special session was scheduled when he was in Poland, well, I'm thinking no one imagined he would do what he did

I am so proud of the legislature 😭!!! And gratitude is due to @forrestdunbarak.bsky.social for going above & beyond to make this possible, which I believe should set a standard for what we expect of leadership. Don’t hold office if you’re going to, for example, slash & burn public schools & govt.

And the legislature gets 45 votes to override the governor’s line item veto of $50m from the base student allocation funding. Looks like Rep. Costello was the lone person to flip from the vote setting the base student allocation. #akleg

Anchorage Sen. Forrest Dunbar announced today that he WILL make it back for Dunleavy's surprise special session. Dunleavy scheduled it during Dunbar's deployment to undermine a veto override, specifically on K12 funding. Now I imagine there's a non-zero chance it gets canceled. #akleg #akgov

There is a huge amount of evidence that lack of funding harms outcomes, much of which was presented to the Education Committee. Dunleavy's veto tantrum is childish and destructive, and the statement in support of it is based on a lie.
