I think that's the worst three-game stretch in team history. Worse than 2015 Mets. Not technically a "series," but an infamous stretch like that Mets series and the O's in 2021 in which you just knew the season ended and everything was going to fall apart. They'll be 7-8 games under .500 soon.

I think what's so frustrating about the constant bullpen meltdowns is it's the last remnants of Mike Rizzo's player development failures. Five years after starting a rebuild, they have so few young arms in the system who can help in that area. It's the easiest thing to develop!

Trying to put things in perspective as we all would have signed up for 41-40 at the halfway mark, yet somehow it feels disappointing because they would be cruising to a Wild Card spot with a slightly below average bullpen. They'd probably be the top WC team if someone like Finnegan was still here.

Just get the 10-game losing streak out of the way now so we can move on. There’s zero point in caring with this bullpen. I want to be detached.

I am just so depressed. It’s impossible the way they blow games. Just two of the most impossible losses I’ve ever seen and in less than two weeks.

They’ve had two of the worst bullpen meltdowns I’ve ever seen in less than two weeks as well as like 6-7 blown games that seemed in hand before we even hit July. Most of these guys would be mediocre AAA depth arms.

Leaking oil for the first time in six weeks. Philly is the biggest series in five years. Have to find a way to split but the timing isn’t great. Phillies look pretty beastly right now and will probably post a couple football scores against Nats pitching. Outcome probably determines the direction.

I love Kevin Frandsen’s anger over the Nats’ complete misuse of the ABS Challenge system. He wants to explode over some of these horrific challenges. He’s all of us. There needs to be an intervention. It’s sooooo bad.

Was waiting to see who would talk to Mike Rizzo first about the ascendant Nats. I guess Svrluga owed a favor that got called in. Story was fine, but Rizzo clearly still in denial about his shortcomings. Never gave praise to the new team at all, not that it's his place to.

Happy to be wrong. This is probably their best series win of the season considering the Wednesday/Friday disasters. Out of character for the post-tear down Nats and I think Butera deserves a ton of credit.

I’ll be impressed if they shrug that one off. The Mariners’ rotation is not a good recipe for doing that. They never recovered from the Bote grand slam in ‘18 or the Padres meltdown in ‘22. Sometimes you can feel a team’s soul leave its body. This feels like that. I literally cannot believe that.

They don’t have any bullpen answers in the minors. All the guys there are even worse. This was always gonna be their undoing. Didn’t expect it to come quite so painfully. I can’t even contemplate watching baseball for a week after that.

I am in this weird headspace with the Nats where I am having so much fun watching good baseball again, but still deep down knowing they will probably hit a wall. It will be said if/when it happens, but it's pretty clear this team is very well run now. I believe very much in what they are building.

Yep. What's fun about this is the Nats haven't done what they're doing against a weak spot in the schedule. They actually got through a pretty challenging two-month start to the season and now they have a real opportunity to make this a legit fun summer.

Following the Nats Minor League system this year is like those videos when deaf people get new high-tech hearing aids that allow them to hear sound for the first time in their lives and they just immediately start bawling. Like "Ohhh, this is what a real farm system is like? This is incredible!"

Another note on the drastic improvement in the Nats' farm system. It's not just the individual performances. Their teams are actually winning quite often. The four full-season affiliates are a combined 40-25. So basically their affiliates average out to a 100-win team so far.

The Nationals have promoted infield prospect Ronny Cruz to High-A Wilmington. Acquired from the Cubs last year for Michael Soroka, the 19-year-old hit .333/.460/.627 with three homers and 15 steals in 14 games at Single-A. He was the talk of Spring Training across the org.

The Nationals have five of the 20 prospects listed here. Things have been very encouraging in the minors this year. IN a way I've never seen it here. And all their affiliates are winning games, also very new.

The Nats have one home run from someone besides Wood or Abrams in the last 10 games. The offense won’t continue this pace but the pitching is probably this bad. The baserunning is somehow worse than it was before. Bad team. Will flirt with 100 losses despite a respectable offense.

The Nats have had a lead of 3+ runs in six different games already this season. They have coughed it up all six times. Every pitcher who returned from last year has gotten worse than they were under the previous staff. Most significantly so. That’s very damning.

The outs on the bases are gonna send me into a murderous rage. That should have been a 5-, 6-run inning and maybe knocking Keller out in the first inning to just the 3. Maddening.

Unacceptable from Cavalli lately. He should be on a short leash. His walk rate isn’t tenable and now he’s putting 20 outs on a decimated bullpen already. Cannot happen. If he’s not going to throw strikes, he should be in AAA.

Man, if they just invested like $15 million in a couple veteran relievers, this could be a really fun season. Maybe once contenders have to DFA some guys they don't want to, we can benefit. I believe the offense is mostly real. There are a lot of pedigreed talents who got no coaching previously.

That should be the last we see Cole Henry for a long time. What a disaster this group is. They have blown I think five three-plus run leads in the 7th or later already this season.

Never thought I would see a worse bullpen than last season. So frustrating because everything else has been promising. Unacceptable. Three straight blown leads of 3+ runs in 7th inning or later. Impossible. Doesn’t happen.

It’s wild how good they have been offensively. And the young core pieces especially. This could actually be a fun team to watch if they can somehow piece together a merely bad bullpen instead of a wretched one. The offensive approach is so drastically improved.

Beyond exhausted by the impossibly bad bullpens year after year. The team is going to quit before the end of April seeing all these good offensive performances get wiped out. Such a losing culture with this franchise. It’s impossible to enjoy baseball when you can never enjoy a lead.
