On Friday we got delivery of 2200 disks for the new #supercomputer #MUSICA — the IBM Storage Scale System 6000 (formerly GPFS), with a 35PB of usable capacity. Spread across 4 racks, the storage system will serve the Vienna part of MUSICA & VSC-5. The team is already busy putting it all together 💪

It's world #backup day! At VSC, backup is performed with IBM spectrum protect on two sites. The backup is located on tapes - the robot you see in the video is managing them. At the moment, ~4 petabytes and over 1 billion files are backed up. Take it as a reminder to back up your files 🔐
