I decided to learn to knit this summer, then decided to make as many dish cloths as I could by Christmas. So far, I’ve made 22, but kept the three worst ones to use myself. Everyone gets holey, crooked practice knitting this year 😁

We decided to watch a couple of episodes of Moonlighting to see if it might be entertaining. It is not. 😂

Tonight we went to my brother’s birthday party. It was at a boys’ summer camp in north AL. We saw folks we don’t see often and enjoyed the setting. It was a good way to spend an evening.

Friday afternoon. One more small work task, and a couple of errands. I've been filled with hope and gratitude all day (weird, I know), probably because I got to go to both the gym AND the library this morning. Tell me a good thing, please.

Hi #FreelanceFriends! It’s a gorgeous Thursday in TN.

I try to build some joy into each day. It's usually a normal thing, like taking my dog for a walk (his joy is contagious). On Thursdays, I make dinner and take it to my younger daughter's house for a visit with her family. What's your little joy for today?

This week: no extra appointments or meetings; work to complete, postcards to write (in support of a GA state senate candidate); embroidery to try; music to practice; books to read; language lessons to work on; good meals planned.

It’s Saturday night. Many things are bad. But I sat on a porch with people I love and we laughed a lot. My abs might be sore tomorrow from laughing so much.

I love goldenrod — it’s usually covered in pollinators, too.

I enjoy this planter, turning it regularly to try and keep her hair growing evenly. She does have a bald spot in the back though.

We watched Happy Gilmore 2. It was dumb and funny. Sometimes that’s just the right thing.

I've got green beans and red potatoes simmering on the stove and my house smells pretty good right now.

My garden is neglected but the zinnias are pretty. 🌻🌱

I’m still taking flute lessons and really enjoying it. I’ve found I really like jazz. Summertime, the Pink Panther theme, Fly Me to the Moon. I’ve got some more complex stuff but don’t quite have the skills yet.

Also, it’s super cool to revisit old skills and find that the knowledge is still in my brain—covered in dust and cobwebs and a tad rusty but there.

I’ve been practicing Spanish (it was my minor in college) and ordered some kid stories. I’m excited to read this one, partly because I think it’s at my reading level.

I keep opening bsky and hoping for something...maybe to see an interesting conversation or post from a friend. And mostly only see angry stuff. And there are lots of reasons to be angry, and maybe I could do more to curate my feed. But it's pretty depressing everywhere right now.

Tried something called “shawarma tofu” for dinner - served with lettuce, tomato slices, cucumber, bell pepper, mushrooms, and spicy hummus (Aldi’s “significantly spicy”). It was pretty good. Would have been better with naan and tzatziki.

I'm caught in a circle of hell, trying to access a recording made on Microsoft Teams. I've received dozens of codes, opened at least 10 different screens, paid for Microsoft Office, downloaded the app, and STILL CANNOT GET TO THE RECORDING.

I’m home, and this beauty (gladioli) was on our walk — which was hot. Like extra super, slightly nauseating hot.

I’ve discovered (yet again) that I’m not a mingler. Loud music, lots of people, and drinks is not the setting where I shine.

Also, I finally got to ride the subway — a thing I’ve always wanted to do. And I wish public transit was that convenient everywhere.

I’ve had an amazing day. And I took this cool picture.

Tomorrow, I’m beginning an adventure. Today, I tried to take things easy. Look at this gorgeous bloom!

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how much easier my life is now than it was 25-30 years ago (I’m so old! 😆). It’s been a long time since my lights got turned off because I couldn’t pay the bill. It used to happen regularly. We have AC now, and it’s nice! I feel really lucky.

Tadpole update: we added water to the puddle this morning and this evening. Hope those legs and lungs develop quick!

We’ve had a very wet spring, and this puddle is in the driveway at my aunt’s house. We noticed the tadpoles a while back. Every time the puddle would start to dry up, it would rain a little. 2/

Hi #FreelanceFriends! I've been missing the chat lately. It's nice to be here today. I'm dava, I write about healthcare tech, enterprise tech, and I'm edging into energy/utilities. I live in Tennessee and have too many hobbies. Here's Jed, cooling down during a walk.

It's after 4pm and I've done almost no (paying) work today. I have done a workshop, gone to a yoga class, and bought groceries. Now I'm very tired. Instead of working, I think I'll take the dog for a walk. (I'm going to end up working until midnight.)

I’m taking a shuttle to the ATL airport to avoid driving to a conference and it’s so nice. I’m in a comfy van, reading, sipping coffee and enjoying the sunrise. It’s only a two hour drive but I’m glad not to do it.
