My first Legions Imperialis kits have arrived so I can get started on my loyalist Solar Auxilia tank brigade. This is my first test model, a standard Leman Russ, and the colour scheme that inspired it.

My Legions Imperialis World Eaters army is nearing completion, just a few odd bases before I can call it done. Here are four more Rhino APCs that will make one of my demi-companies entirely mechanised.

Finished ten Jakhals for my 40K World Eaters army. These were fun, characterful models that didn't take too long once I got the hang of them. I tried using new skin tones and varying each one for more uniqueness, with half an eye on a Catachan army in future. Knight Questor Flesh is a great colour.

I picked up some Vorax automata in Warhammer World last week. These are such cool kits and they feel unique because I don't think I've ever seen them before. I've scraped off the Mechanicum symbol and will be using it as a Myriad cortex control engine.

My custom Horus Heresy and Legions Imperialis tokens from @propaintedstudios.bsky.social arrived! I had these customised to match my World Eaters, plus colour coding the tokens themselves to match the colour system in my reference sheets. Top quality stuff, highly recommended, do check them out!

It wouldn't be a weekend away without a new project to plan! Love taking army lists and lore books away with me on holiday to get started on something new. Thinking about a Tallarn Reborn loyalist tank brigade...

Watchmaster Hansen has just taken command of 5th Squad, 8th Platoon. Drilling the troops under his command rigorously, he ensures that they are ready to give the Emperor the final sacrifice when 2nd Company makes its next attack.

Starting on another Krieg Squad today. This is Box No. 61, which will become 5th Squad, 8th Platoon.

Latest conversion project - these are Mk 2 Recon Marines for my Dark Angels army. I used the Assault Marine bodies as they're a bit more dynamic and have cool plating on the front. Then Arbites shotguns from the Exaction Squad. Very happy with how they look!

This weekend I had a great game of Horus Heresy - my Dark Angels and my brother's Space Wolves teamed up to fight the mysterious zombie marines of the Myriad in a co-op scenario. Despite heavy losses the Deathwing managed to get melta bombs in and knock out the command robots controlling them.

Paging the Master General of the Divisio Logistica @unitedpackage.bsky.social, and High Censor of the Enlightenment Bureau @owolf.bsky.social. An important shipment of reinforcements has arrived, and pending paint stripping, will be ready to join the ranks of the 38th Mordian!

Not a bad haul. - Traitor consul will be Dark Angels Praetor (no jokes please) - Mk II assault squad, minus jetpacks, plus Arbites shotguns, will be Dark Angels Recon Squad - Vorax will be more II. Legion Myriad battle engines - Battle of Tallarn book for some bedtime reading.

Colonel Kessler of the Mordian 38th is the most senior surviving officer left trapped in Vardane City, alongside a few half platoons of the 38th and 41st Regiments. Surrounded and outnumbered, the Mordians have determined to go down fighting, creases pressed and boots polished to a mirror shine.

It's here! I saw this model pop up when I was browsing Etsy from The Maker's Cult and absolutely had to pick one up to be the leader of my new Mordian force. This is going straight to the top of the painting queue!

I've started work on another squad to join my Horus Heresy Dark Angels force. The new Assault Marine kit is fantastic, I've built five with chainsword and shield, and five with flamers.

Five more English Civil War bases from the Warlord Pike and Shot starter box. Apart from a few famous units I'll be painting all mine in generic colours that could represent either side for maximum flexibility.

One of my hobby goals this year is to get my 40K World Eaters to 1,000pts and use them in a game. I'm getting close - just these Jakhals to go and possibly some more Khorne Berserkers. These Jakhals were very fiddly but the dynamic poses do look fantastic.

A bit more batch painting to work on some Legions Imperialis stuff that's been in my Pile for a long time. These are more World Eaters to add to the Slaughterborn Assault Brigade, attached to 3rd Armoured Corps.

Played a great couple of games of 40K with my Steel Legion this weekend, against Tyranids and Death Guard. I used Yarrick and the new Hippogryphs - the latter were especially good at sneaking out, denying objectives, and scoring points.

Not much hobby time today, as I took a long overdue day off to visit Doncaster and the Rail Heritage Centre. I drove 100 miles to see Sir Nigel Gresley's hat - and you know what? I'd have driven a lot further.

In the confined streets of Vardane City, when the Mordians need fire support, the timely arrival of a mortar is often better than waiting for an Earthshaker mission. This "Longshot"-class mortar half track, in service with the 8th Mordian Artillery's 2nd Company, is an example of such a vehicle.

Finished these two Hippogryph AFVs for the Steel Legion 235th Mech Regiment - just in time for a game this weekend. Really like these kits and they're small enough to store in a single flat 4L tray. Might think about a Catachan recon company next...

Sat here painting my new Hippogryph AFVs, and I can't help but think how cool their turrets would be as alternatives for the Chimera.

The mega batch is finished. Thirty Marines of the lost II. Legion, trapped on the snowy wastes of Caligosa's surface and hunted by the Dark Angels while the rest of the Heresy rages about them. Bit of a slog but that's this army mostly done now.

Continuing with the new Armageddon box, I built the two new Hippogryph AFVs. These are nice little kits, I think I'll add this pair to my Steel Legion for an extra bit of mobile firepower.

Picked up a new Armageddon Battalion box, just to get my eager hands on the new vehicles. The Centaur is a nice simple kit that I think is going to be the basis of lots of converting amongst the community. Here's my effort - a "Longshot"-class mortar half track for my Mordians.

Lieutenant Branski's Malcador is the Mordian 122nd's last heavy tank. Trapped in Vardane City after General Cohen's abortive attempt to relive the city, it now serves as a bastion of firepower with its twin multi-lasers and three flamers. Enemies abandon a street at the mere sound of its advance.

Batch painting continues! Now got all these Myriad Marines to the wash stage, now I'll just need to go back with the Stormhost Silver and edge highlight 60 shoulder pads. Easy.

With the vox-net down due to warp storms, the only method of communication for the Mordian 38th trapped in Vardane comes from Ceres-class courier fowl, operated by the Aerogrammatic Corps. These slips of paper carried by pigeons are the only communication with the outside world.

Finished my first tank for my Mordian army - the Demolisher "Gloriam" of the 122nd Armoured. Went for the classic grey colour scheme as shown in Imperial Armour. Next I'll be adding some of the new half tracks as mortar and flamer carriers.

Captain Dornberg is the adjutant of the 38th Mordian, trapped in Vardane City and fighting the Eldar for two years. Immaculate and punctilious as only a Mordian officer can be, he has determined to die heroically, in defence of both the city and his regiment's reputation.

Had a very good game of Heresy at the weekend. My Iron Warriors suffered a battering after being heavily outscored by Line units, again I focused too much on killing stuff. My brother used a lot of Predators and tanks in his World Eaters list, which were more mobile but not as tough as he'd thought.

I've had this model sat around for years, and just thought it would make the perfect tank commander for my new Mordian army. I think I'll add him to the cupola of my Malcador tank.

Taking batch painting to the extreme this morning - thirty MkII marines for my II. Legion Horus Heresy army, the zombie marines of the Myriad.

Watchmaster Garrick leads 8th Platoon, 4th Squad. Equipped with one of the new auto-laspistols, the squad is prepared for the battalion's next big push, spearheading the assault into the enemy trenches.

Moritat‑Excursor Seraphiel Draegon, Order of the Thorn - I. Legion Draegon walks the snowbound forests of Caligosa alone. He is a penitent engine of judgement, dispatching foes with callous ease, using his signature twin Vulcanis-pattern storm pistols.

Finished a 1,000pt Red Corsairs Battlefleet Gothic force. A mix of Chaos and Imperial vessels in the classic red and black colour scheme of these piratical raiders.

I wanted a Legion Moritat for my Heresy Dark Angels, but also thought he could do with a weapon upgrade. I used these two pistols out of my bitz box, which I'm now calling Vulcanis-pattern storm pistols. Thinking about a whole squad of Marines with these and jetpacks.

Opened Box No. 60 of Krieg yesterday, building another squad to join 8th Platoon. Also came up with a new way of converting the Watchmaster to have a machine pistol version of the standard laspistol.

I finished Lucius "Slick" Devlan, really pleased with how he came out. A nice change of pace to put a bit more time into a single model. Particularly pleased with how the face came out.

The Solar Auxilia 542nd Cohort, the Phesian Bombardiers, were mainly known for their artillery. But lower numbered divisions such also included one fire support Leman Russ in their Divisional HQ for forward defence, such as this example from the 145th Gun Division with a twin autocannon turret.

A few test Mordians for my new retro 40K project. Replicated the original colour scheme pretty closely except for white gloves and belts which I always think look dashing. Very happy with the result!

I was reminiscing about Inquisitor the other day and remembering how much fun I had playing it as a kid. So I decided to pick up a model of Slick Devlan, my favourite character.

My second Decimator is done and ready to add to the World Eaters army! Can't wait to get stuck in with these.

Saw this classic being discussed last week and thought I just had to get another copy. Packed with good ideas for both tabletop and campaign games, and also includes 40K rules. Just need to get myself a castle now...

Finished twenty Frostgrave Barbarians to add to my Sigmar force, telling the stories from Graham McNeill's Legend of Sigmar trilogy in model form. First we have Wolfgart and Pendrag, two of Sigmar's warrior companions, then twenty Unberogen warriors.

Played another game of Quar last night - this time a trench raid mission called Get the Gun. Starting to get to grips with the mechanics now, simple and easy to play but lots of special rules to look up, which I'm now starting to learn. A great game!
