I give a lot of advice about best practices creatively and technically in game loc, but philosophically, you only do truly good work when you don't treat the material like a notch in your belt. You're not respecting it and the effort put into creating it when it's just Content and a clout booster.

i’ll also admit i don’t care much for twitter-likes, but the threaded tree view at least makes it *tolerable* for me. my ideal social network is something like Cohost with Tumblr’s communities feature and the ability to subscribe to a particular tag/“playlist” from a user. and a memo field.

i think the new tumblr reply-as-new-post model makes sense, *so long as* i can see comments on the parent posts by default and on all replies if i choose. like cohost, if cohost had a button that let me actually see other people’s replies and another button to view all comments across all replies.

re: current retro gaming discourse i think it would be neat to have a sort of web-app wiki thing that gives you a sort of wiki-sidebar to a magazine collection. each individual article could be marked, have tags, have transcriptions (whether OCR or hand-written; would just need to be marked)
