For those feeling blue (or a little green) about Labor being re-elected, some good news (to me). My 7 year old home battery will now be joined by another at a very affordable cost and it will be filled by cheap solar electricity produced today rather than expensive nuclear power in 20 years time.

A while ago I estimated what a nuclear roll-out might look like for Australia's NEM. It involved 2,400 TWh of gas to fill the gap between coal retirement & nuclear generation. It also has 3.5x more cumulative emissions than the ISP. The cumulative cost to FY2052 of gas & emissions are ~$630b!
