I don't know that MARLOWE was the inspiration for THE ROCKFORD FILES. Rockford is more clearly inspired by MAVERICK, the premise being a Maverick-like wry anti-P.I. Marlowe may be wry, but he's more soulful and straighter than Rockford. That's why Marlowe is the standard for PIs after him.

I think it's unfair to pit necessarily high-budget Masters of Universe against low-budget Scary Movie. Amazon hopes it performs well, but can it really expect it to break even? I think not. I appreciate the big swing/"healthy cut," though.

WEEKEND PREVIEW SCARY MOVIE taking a healthy stab at $50M+ this weekend. While MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE is feeling the pain of nostalgia—$30M+. Really puts it into perspective when you know the budgets—$30M vs $200M.

One way to think of Adam/He-Man is George Reeves's Clark Kent/Superman, a mere difference of dress. Adam has the sensibilities and courage that drive He-Man. It's Cringer who has different, timid sensibilities to Battle Cat.

All this is because the Bears ownership/management got pissy over property taxes at the Arlington Heights site - WHICH THE TEAM OWNS - that would have cost them like several million dollars a year. The franchise is valued at $8 billion. (I bet they still end up in AH.)

I have to say I think I'm out on Amazon's MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE. I hear it's full of crass jokes and has more swearing than you'd think. The classic Filmation cartoon's humor never undercut its earnest messages for kids. I don't need a movie that makes anyone think less of the cartoon.

I'll especially remember #JamesHandy 's performance in the #QuantumLeap ep. "Temptation Eyes." He played the cameraman best friend of a TV reporter into whom Sam had leapt, a loyal friend revealed to be a serial killer. Also starring #TamilynTomita as a psychic who discerned Sam's presence.

Critics are saying MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE is too jokey. That concerns me b/c the original cartoon had the right mix of humor and earnestness. You knew when it was being earnest and the messages it delivered then hit home. If too many moments are played off w/ jokes, you never get your bearings.

I'm let down Amazon canceled plans for a STARGATE reboot TV show, but then everyone who originally greenlit it has left Amazon. As you can read between the lines, the show didn't fit what the new ppl wanted to do. I wouldn't want to do a show if its biggest supporting execs were gone.

Snake Eyes was my favorite G.I. Joe b/c his role was "Commando." Later I realized the G.I. Joe force are all Special Operators assigned to counter the terrorist org Cobra. IMO it's unfair Snake Eyes was both disfigured and unable to speak. Some like that he's a blank slate to fill as you wish. ✋

Have been doing two short workouts per day this week: 5 sets of 5 pushups, 5 goblet squats, and 15 two-hand kettlebell swings. That totals 150 swings, 50 pushups, and 50 goblet squats per day. Each session takes me less than ten minutes, easy to fit in.

Watching the 1983-85 He-Man cartoon on Tubi. It's a lot deeper than I could grasp as a child. Teela learns she is the Sorceress's daughter in Ep. 2. This is similar to Lois deducing Clark is Superman in Ep. 4 of My Adventures w/ Superman.
