E won the keyring at our CAMRA 50th Anniversary Quiz in Rochdale, while I had to "suffer" the official launch of Cask Boddingtons in Founders Hall in Manchester. Both had a great time though.

Rest stop at Georg Schneider. 30°C out there, so cooling Helles hitting the spot. Jolly non local with a companion are invited to sit at Stammtisch. Young lad looks terrified. Waitresses bustle in and out to the tables outside. The cheery atmosphere is overlaid by a strong smell of meaty gravy.

Weisses Brauhaus. One Schneider Original €5.90. Six pack of 500ml bottles to take away? €6.90. FFS. Or the Helles.

Been to the Augustiner Keller but one was enough. Touch of gippy tummy so bed early. I'll read my book and tomorrow the big seven oh. Only 13700 steps today. Nearly 22000 yesterday. But today I was poorly. E tired too, so best all round.

Cask conditioned Boddingtons Bitter ceased in 2012. It will shortly be reintroduced under licence from Budweiser UK by JW Lees at their Greengate Brewery here in Middleton. You heard it here first.

Today after suitable lubricants, we are going to an Indian restaurant with an Indian chef and Indian rather than Pakistan/ Bangladesh/ Punjabi dishes. Been warned we might need to ask them to increase spice, but we shall see. 🤔

Saw Gilbert and George this morning while having breakfast. Looked doddery. One in a brown suit, one in a green suit. As per usual.

Nice to bump into Paul Davies last night.

Going to IndieBaum Beer fest Rochdale today and why not? Here's my top three beers.

Random Yorkshire chippy. Haddock and chips £8.90 and bloody excellent. Better by far than anything I have had locally. Sorry no photo though, but the fish was as at least thick as my thumb. Sod off cod.

Today we say goodbye to the Cob and Coal in Oldham Market. This tiny micro pub came from nowhere to win the Greater Manchester Pub of the Year. It will be missed.

What a day. Boiling hot, good times and I willingly vacated a seat in the pub when asked to for a regular who normally sits there. I know that feeling. The regular, older than me was smilingly grateful. Pub etiquette. Bed now and the extortionate Helensburgh Beer Festival tomorrow.

Is Thornbridge Jaipur the best beer in the UK? Quite possibly. Definitely a contender. I wish I could find the Burton Union version.
