Taking a nap halfway through a first draft only hours before a deadline is part of my creative process, I promise.

I’m a little bit speechless about this one! Second place is such an honour, knowing the impressive quality of the stories submitted to the Not Quite Write Prize. If anyone is on the fence about this contest, it’s an absolute blast! (No fart pun intended—or is there? 👀)

I looked at an old version of my calendar and thought this weekend was a rare contest free break. Signed up for another contest because goblins abhor a vacuum, only to remember the possibility of finals for NYCM 250 AND finals for the SFS comp. Locking in for a hectic weekend. Nobody talk to me 😭

Second place in NYCM Rhyming Story feels unreal. I’m relatively new to the contest circuit, and this was my first ever NYCM contest, so the last thing I expected when I signed up was to place. Actually, I think I said to a friend “I’ll just embarrass myself”. Sometimes risks pay off.
