Something special happened this spring in Montreal, and it wasn’t just the Canadiens’ magical ride to the Eastern Conference final. Just as notable was what was going on in the streets. There were a new wave of younger Canadiens fans ready carry the torch.

They had a great ride during these playoffs. As a dire hard fan since 1984, I am so much proud of that team!

The takeaway is this team gave us so much joy this spring. There hasn’t been much to celebrate here. The economy sucks, politics suck, rents suck, potholes suck, even the weather has been sucking. Then along came the youngest team in the National Hockey League and they made it to the final 4.

It was a disappointing series but the take-away for even the most irrational Habs fan is that this is a great young team with a bright future. They'll be back and they have smart managers who will spend the summer filling the holes in the line-up that we noticed in the last week.

MSL makes no changes to the roster. A roster that was badly out-played in three straight games. Sorry the coach who must not be challenged mucked up. Badly.

They need to bring it back to the Bell Centre Sunday. To pay tribute to Claude Lemieux, to allow the fans to thank this team for bringing us so much joy this year. The last game of the season at the Bell Centre cannot be that travesty Wednesday. Do it for Claude. 2/2

IMO the Habs are still far from finished in their rebuild. These last three series showed what they need to address in the off season. Is the answer someone currently in the system, or, do HuGo use some of their prospects and Cap Space to acquire players.

Sorry, but lack of emotion and drive? That's a real misrepresentation. They're utterly outplayed, but it's not for lack of trying.

I get that everyone (me included) got caught up in the moment. I hate to be a voice of reason (especially here online), but if you had told me way back in October that the Canadiens would make it to the ECF, but lose I would say the season was a success.

The real reason for pessimism is the lack of emotion and drive shown by the Habs in Game 4 Wednesday night at the Bell Centre. By the 10-minute mark of the first period, it was clear that the hometown team was unlikely to win the game.

Today is the 15th What the Puck column of the playoffs as I tour the restaurants, bars and streets of Montreal to catch the mood of Habs fans. Thursday night I went to Brasserie des Rapides in Lasalle & it was full of fans who believe the Canadiens are going all the way. Olé Olé.

Neglected is a bit harsh. Qc haven't produced the quality in volume they used to and trying to shoehorn the Louis Leblancs into the league was a failed experiment. I am glad there is a presence on the team but Quebec minor hockey needs to do better as well

I was back at the Bell Centre Monday for another game 7 & another improbable Canadiens victory & another game 7 winning goal from Newsy. There really is something magical going on in this Dobes Spring. The real magic is in the streets, with this new generation of Habs fans.

Dobes has allowed 9 goals in his last two games. 12 in his last 3. Troubling.
