Let's uh not pretend the diegetic/non-diegetic kink concept absolves things of any criticism through a racism, ableism or other bigotry based lens! Inclusion of minorities in fan and romance novel spaces is still a work in progress!

It just means that conversations surrounding consent and portrayal of the act of and engaging in kink itself in the text can be viewed as diegetic/non-diegetic not that the text and portrayal are unable to be interrogated, criticised or analysed.
