Its a bit funky seeing them use these pics of Demarco as marketing materials cuz the guy went back to UP and died like a month later from a medical incident.

Mayor of fake city that exists to be a glorified strip mall and airport parking lot with little regulation is mad when the minimally regulated free market does its thing.

I posted this on reddit and so many people are assuming im talking about the loading zone...which I am very much not because that is not where the arrow is pointing. Also, a lot of people think a plain tow zone with 0 exceptions is fine to stand in? Dude.

Anyone saying the REM was value engineered to shit should be required to watch the entirety of this video. Based on my napkin math, o-train line 2 has a lower top speed than the forst park branch ((12mi/55min)*60 = 13.1mph vs (8.67mi/32min)*60 = 16.3mph)

It really is crazy how which driver/operator you have on transit makes a massive difference in your commute time. I've left for work at the same time the past few days and my arrivals have varied by about 20 minutes

decided to take the red line instead of the bus because the 146 dropped a trip and we just had an emergency braking application just before north/clybourn. On the bright side the operator has been incredibly communicative about it

I think a major reason I'm such a big fan of the fire stadium is that it reminds me of the lakeside McCormick place building, which is probably my favorite large-but-not-tall buildings out there. Very supervillain vibes but in a good way

I had a weird thing happen very early this morning where my coolify instance went down and just completely stopped responding to any network traffic. After restarting the server, I disabled my custom bluesky feed (ALPeter) which resulted in both much lower CPU and network ingress.

Lake Shore/Stratford has been gone for almost a month now and you wouldn't know it if you rode the bus. The GTFS, bus tracker, and bus announcements still treat it like its there.

Just like the CD-MP3 format, I wish a DVD-MP4 sorta format (unofficial, but widely supported) had taken off. A DVD can hold 4.7GB at a minimum, most HD movies can fit within that with some compression! Id love to have a player that can take a dvd with a 1080p mp4 on it and...play it...

Something I came across today is that Metra has an annual procuement plan with various contracts and their estimated posting time on the website. What REALLY drew my attention is "Battery Electric Switching" and "All Electric Switcher" being listed separately.

Ive been using a custom instance if maplibre native to render the open graph images used by Amtraker and recently ive been wondering if its worth it to use something like cloudflare workers + maplibre gl js instead.

Funny that Indiana eliminated their state gas tax and then when prices started increasing again, stations just increased the prices to what they'd be with the tax, leading to 0 savings for Hoosiers and shooting a hole in the state budget. cc

the thing is I like all this stuff. I like the hot honey and ricotta slices. I like the turmeric brussels sprouts. I like the corporate slop bowls. it's either my least or most pretentious opinion that most of this food is actually pretty good.
