Working my way through the latest issue of Analog and was impressed with "Fixative" by Jonathan Olfert. Kind of story that needs to be read twice to pick up all details and see how it locks together. Perfect blend of compassion for the human condition and hard science fiction. And nailed the ending.

I love this idea for its explanatory power, unlike conventional dark energy which is basically just a placeholder to make the model work.
