#CambMA City Council just voted 8-1 to end single family zoning, allowing up to 4-stories of #housing by right citywide! Thank you @burhanazeem.bsky.social, @marcgov.bsky.social, @councillorsiddiqui.bsky.social, @votejivan.bsky.social, Mayor Simmons, Clr Wilson, Clr Toner & Clr Nolan!

This was a comprehensive reform that also simplified our zoning. By that I mean no step backs, no dwelling unit per lot area, no FAR, no special permits (under 75k sqft), no parking mins… While other reforms have limited it to 4-8 units, we’re really trying to build housing!

Rather than go smaller, we decided to go bigger in a way that would result in thousands of both market rate units and affordable units. Our high affordability requirements only penciled at 6 stories and that was our baseline.

Cambridge leading the way! Six stories as of right throughout every neighborhood!!! (More to come for TOD corridors soon!) Boston should follow this example as soon as possible! 👏👏👏 🏗️🏘️🏙️🎉
