Louis mumbled weakly and dropped his head against Harry’s shoulder, “Harry, I don’t think-”  “No, just - just hang on a little bit longer, baby. Louis- Louis, look at me!”  Louis’ head lifted weakly, his eyes were lidded heavily, “I’m sorry, but I have to say it…I love you.”

Louis blushed and nibbled at his lip, causing Harry to frown, “I…I can keep it on if you prefer? I know my back’s kind of -” “Baby,” Harry whispered, then kissed him lightly because he was too weak not to, “Everything about you is beautiful to me.”

His eyebrows tugged together, his eyes sweeping over his face, “Baby, I don’t understand, what are you saying?” When his voice threatened to break, he cleared his throat, “You’re meant to put her first.” “I always have, always will.” Harry bit out, staring at him in disbelief.

“Handsome devil, he was.” Niall muttered.  Harry cocked his head, pinning Louis in place with his eyes.  “What? I didn’t say it!” “You were drooling.” Louis squawked. “I was not. ” “Sure, babe.”

Harry raised his hands, a laugh punching from his chest, “Wait a minute, a water fight is tame but a food fight is downright primitive.” “You callin’ me a filthy animal?” Louis asked in a horrible imitation of a boston accent. “Christ, you’re insufferable - and your pot’s overflowing.”

Harry swallowed as he thought over Louis’ words, his eyes dropped to the light blue bed sheet between them, “You’re right.” “Say that again, I’m close.”

“Who did this to you?” Louis said, his tone rough. Green eyes slowly travelled over his face. “Don’t lie to me, Harry.”

“I doubt your all-powerful self would be able to snap your fingers and make it disappear.” Harry said, “This demon is old, it’s sentient.” “Funny, so am I.” “Old, maybe.” Harry muttered under his breath.”
