Ok, this is really into the 40k weeds but it has always bugged me that the Space Marines, who with a very small number of notable exceptions *do not* beleive the Emperor is a god, still call people "heretics" which is a word with a very specific religious meaning and shouldn't mean anything to them.

I'm determined to finish Rogue Trader before Dark Heresy comes out (I was playing a co op game but we've been distracted from it for a while now) So now Trajan Von Valancius will tame the Koronus Expanse with very un-Imperial optimism and friendliness and a pair of plasma pistols for the jerks.

Today I dug out the first White Dwarf Magazine I ever owned as a kid - the February 2004 issue. It wouldnt have been exactly when I got into the hobby (I didn't start collecting White Dwarf until I was pretty much hooked) but it was pretty close as I remembe I really couldnt get enough.

Even when I was the peak audience for popular "top 10" music, I didn't actually know any of the songs that qulaified and I'd go so far as to say I didnt know people who regularly listened to it either. It was the music of public spaces where top 40 radio was played. My personal music was elsewhere.

Having the kind of brain that insists on completing things from the beginning and starting over if I can't remember the beginning parts of something well enough and the sort of brain that drops hyperfixations without my say-so and leaves things to finish later is often infuriating.

Rounding Chapter 10 of Book 7 of The Dark Tower on my second run through of the series. The road is long and often painful but I will probably always find myself drawn back to this series the way I find myself returning to a growing core of stories that built and continue to build my imagination.

Ok look. I know that for whatever reason Space Marines are almost never allowed to be out of their armor (not in universe, just that authors and media creators rarely depict them out of armor) but if they are wearing 2200lbs of armor they cannot be sitting on stools in random human villages!

Something I think a lot of settings do poorly is depict how magic or magic equivalents are actually viewed in the world they exist in. We as the audience see and understand magic, the Force, psyker powers, etc but that is explicitly not common knowledge in a lot of settings.

After scraping mold lines and drilling over 100 bolter barrels today I have no idea where I am or what day of the week it is anymore.

I've had the 2nd edition starter box for Horus Heresy sitting in my house since it came out because I couldnt decide between Thousand Sons and White Scars. Rather than wait another whole edition, I have simply chosen to be extremely extra and do both.

Ok ok real talk for 40k though: The official fiction focuses far too much on first founding chapters in 40k, which makes them seem like they're still these massive legion sized organizations instead of being about 9,000 people in total (with some variance for codex compliance vs. not)

Doing a little prologue session for our Shadowrun campaign since our other player is sick and Thanksgiving is next week. Malibu the hobgoblin street runner and Patch the mobile mafia doc have stumbled upon some street gangers robbing one of Patch's colleagues.

I forgot that there's a massive online contingent of 40k fans for whom Space Marine 2 is the main piece of 40k media they've interacted with until I start seeing people thinking Captain Titus is the main character of the setting rather than being one of maybe 5-10 interchangeable Ultramarine OCs.

Ok but I'm really happy with how my green stuff work turned out on this conversion I'm working on of a White Scars Stormseer.

I think its kind of funny that the idea of a guy with a space pistol in one hand and a sword in the other is such an intrinsic part of 40k's aesthetic blood and yet in basically no 40k game (tabletop,video, etc) does it ever make sense to do this mechanically over just taking a different option.
