My opinion of the Chicago bears leaving Chicago is that we should have let George Lucas build his museum on top of their stupid parking lot.

Every pride month I confront the dread of signing my lease for yet another year in my same stagnant life as rent grows so much faster than my wages. I really could leave it all right now for anything that promised a decent chance of being better

Ahhhh ..ahhhhhh it's a sipergenski gasket nearly a decade before the mathematician published about them? And we have extensive notes from Alexander Graham Bell trying to make an optimally light design and resorting to a fractal?!? Why was this not in my textbook

The DSA is a party of upper class condo owners. Here we are applauding them for punting real work like fighting down-zoning and permit reform for unrealistic political goals like instituting a land value tax.

Emergent Tokyo is probably the most recent, definitive read on some of the pretty Japan takes towards planning. In particular, you have the Zakkyo buildings (which aren't unique to Japan but very much prevalent there) where you have various businesses on each floor of the tower.

You're all too late. I've already trained a massive neural net on astrological data to predict everything from politics to weather. I HAVE MASTERED AND FUSED BOTH THE ANCIENT AND MODERN. Tensors of billions upon billions of dimensions now whisper arcane truths to me.

Replacing the training data on all our naive natural language AI tests with the text of Pride and Prejudice. Because just seeing errors like this is funny (and also because why the hell did you write a test that calls the Wikipedia API to pull in training data?!?!)

A silly problem with flashcards/anki. Sometimes I will come upon a word I feel I know well, but realize that I know it's been showing up lately, which can only mean I have recently messed it up. This tells me it has something tricky about it and leads me to guess a less conventional answer/reading.

The anti AI luddites will rally against AI when it is salient only to *them*. And they are effectively blind. It's going to be so annoying. AI labour washing is going to be so easy and probably most companies won't even bother with it.

I'm not actually qualified to talk about travel. But I think it's true that at its best, travel helps us better understand the communities we already live in. And conversely, knowing how to really be part of a local community helps us know how to visit a new community more deeply. So ..

I was reading about that "Clavichord" person being sentenced to like 20 hours of community service for the discharge of a firearm in a public space? I had to do a hundred hours as a teenager just to pass high-school and my stupid eagle scout project probably took twice that.

They're roboticizing you in the comments, friend. They're adding panel lines and calling your body a chassis. They're putting numbers in your name and saying it's your designation. You're so processed.

Recently, because of stress, I haven't been putting in contacts in the morning. And multiple times this week, after getting home and quickly putting away groceries, laptop etc, I found myself in the bathroom just having finished peeing, suddenly realizing I am basically blind and missing my glasses.
