This morning the D9 Team joined volunteers across San Diego for the annual Point-in-Time Count, a snapshot count of our unsheltered neighbors. Recognizing the humanity of people experiencing homelessness is essential to offering the support needed. We too believe that a better world is possible.

🚨 THIS Wednesday, January 28! 🚨 Rules Committee will consider the Empty Second Home and Vacation Rental Tax, a proposal to keep homes available for San Diegans and ensure investors who take housing off the market pay their fair share.

The news that federal agents have shot and killed another person in Minneapolis, this time 37‑year‑old Alex Pretti, is deeply troubling. His death is part of a continuing pattern of violence by immigration enforcement agencies operating without accountability. Read our full statement for more.

When powerful institutions choose corporate profits over our community’s well-being, we have to speak out. I stand with the people demanding an end to detention profiteering and silence in the face of abuse. Community over corporations. Always.

In his time, Dr. King was surveilled, attacked, and vilified for refusing to choose order over justice. Too often, his legacy is sanitized. Stripped of the radical truth he stood for. To honor him, we must be willing to name injustice, challenge power, and reject neutrality.

This morning, our team joined the Hamilton Elementary community for Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day. The walk honors Ruby Bridges’ bravery as a six-year-old who changed history as the first African-American child to attend an all-white elementary school.
