Big News: Today, the Rules Committee voted 3–1 to advance our Vacation Home Operation ballot proposal — a common-sense proposal to address fairness in the housing market, keep homes available for San Diegans, and ensure out-of-state investors and full-time vacation rentals pay their fair share.

✅ PASSED: Today, the San Diego City Council unanimously adopted the Due Process and Safety Ordinance — a landmark policy that makes clear: San Diego will not be a staging ground for unlawful, discriminatory federal enforcement.

Thousands showed up to No Kings to say NO to: fascism, fear, and the stripping of our rights. It’s long overdue we turn protest into policy. This Monday, Council will vote on our Due Process & Safety Ordinance. A local policy to defend our rights, reject federal overreach, and protect San Diegans.

Loved also seeing @seanelorivera.bsky.social in the NBC coverage of the downtown protests. Councilman Elo-Rivera is one of our best leaders now. I spoke to lots of people in my neighborhood today, to tell their councilmember to vote yes on the Due Process and Public Safety ordinance! 🙏

Last month, leaders from across the county stood united to commit to action to protect San Diego from the federal government’s ongoing assault. This morning, we joined UNAC/UHCP healthcare workers on the picket line to stand in solidarity with the work they do everyday. Their fight isn’t just for themselves — it’s for patients, families, and working people everywhere. We see you, we stand with you, and we’ve got your back.

Today, we recognize #IndigenousPeoplesDay. A day we commemorate the histories and significant contributions of Indigenous Peoples. We especially want to uplift the Kumeyaay Nation whose land we reside on. Today, we celebrate resistance and not conquest.

Last week, we had the honor of proclaiming September 15 to October 15, 2025 to be “Hispanic Heritage Month” in the City of San Diego in partnership with the Offices of Councilmember Foster III, Councilmember Campillo, and Councilmember Moreno.

Another inspiring morning with the Kensington-Talmadge Litter Pickers yesterday! Together, 43 volunteers collected more than 1,100 pounds of trash and expanded cleanup efforts along Montezuma to Collwood Blvd. Next cleanup is November 2nd—let’s keep the momentum going!
