Finally watched The Life of Chuck. Wonderful. Is there a word for those happy, bittersweet, lump in the throat, hopeful tears you get from works like this? It’s a feeling that takes me back to when I was a boy and saw Bicentennial Man at the theater with my dad. The stories that invite you to live.

I’ve played a lot of these jock, golden-boy types. I love how the light came through the windows here…bright, golden, but with shadows cutting through. Just like those ‘golden boys’ seem to shine on the surface, but underneath there are cracks, complexities, darker edges and struggles.

Oh boy am I fired up today. Existing as a threat in the eyes of self-proclaimed normies feels like death by a thousand cuts as you just move through the world trying to bear it.

If you’re wondering why queer people are “so political,” check yourself. Our bodies, our love, our safety are legislated and debated every day. We don’t get to just exist quietly. If our existence is treated like a threat, don’t expect our silence. We will be loud.

At its best, religion is a source of belonging, compassion, and hope to those who believe. But it’s also fueled centuries of war, bigotry, and control. Too often, a book of ancient stories is used to justify cruelty and deny progress. Faith should lift us up, not become humanity’s greatest scourge.

Queer or not. Education isn’t indoctrination, it’s acknowledgment. It’s telling kids they’re not alone, and that difference isn’t something to fear. When you strip that away, you’re not protecting children. You’re teaching them shame. You’re teaching them to hate themselves and each other.
