I feel like when it comes to fight choreography in #VRChat, there are people who only want the results of what is done but not the effort of what it takes to attain it. It’s more than just “let’s have a cool fight scene”, it’s “let’s express ourselves”. And if you don’t have passion, it won’t work.

Fighting in #VRChat is our special art.

It would be a lot easier to just have our fight choreography be done entirely in blender. But I feel like it takes away the magic of it working with people in VR. Even if you have a team animating with you, there’s no experience like building muscle memory and a good sweat to show off your skill.

Sometimes, I see a very nice looking world and my first instinct is: “Let’s choreograph a fight here.”

Take it slow. Find your resolve. Progress finds a way through those who allow themselves to learn.

To find calm and composure is to seek the way forward. But without patience, haste will take you down a detour of many winding roads of varying destinations.

I love Star Wars of course, but sometimes I find myself doing a little more variety. Here are two example of me doing some choreography without a lightsaber! Both of these were recorded by @legend50210.bsky.social, and @racingeevee.bsky.social and @redromeo.bsky.social were my partners!

Any time I look for “Martial Arts” related games on steam, all of it is just over-the-top, flashy fighting games. There aren’t a lot of fighting games that are “grounded” in a sense of realism like Sifu or Absolver for example. Everything has to have explosive color effects and air-juggling.

Next on the agenda. To try this in my small space.

Despite the common notion that I have an affinity with close quarters combat and some natural movement involving melee weapons, I’d say I’m definitely not ill-experienced with handguns.

Still such a gem.

This scene in the live action trailer for Sifu feels like I’m looking in a mirror because I do the exact same thing to the imaginary opponent, countering the same attack with different approaches while my co-workers watch me being a goofball swinging at nothing.
