Gender markers shouldn't even be on passports at all in the first place. They are unnecessary and I'm glad Justice Jackson hints at this. They weren't even added until 1972 when women started to be able to travel independently of their husbands and fathers.

in some ways i'm glad this happened sooner rather than later - we knew it was coming, now we can begin to figure out how to proceed. this is likely happening before many people were able to escape; imagine having up and left the country only to be called back because your passport got revoked.
