Bandaids on business problems make some people a lot of $$… even careers. The problem isn’t the bandaid. It does its job albeit temporarily. The problem is not recognizing or not caring that it’s only temporary.

Nobody is asking L&D to change in the face of AI. If org leadership continues to define L&D as a content producer, AI only accelerates the case for making it expendable. The transformation has to begin with how leadership defines organizational capability, not by trying to redefine L&D.

Do you know your values? I always thought this exercise was important. Maybe still is but I got to thinking about WHY ones values are what they are. Maybe a product of your upbringing/childhood experiences… good or otherwise… so not innately your own if you thought they were.

One of the biggest mistakes L&D ever did was refer to every approach as a “learning” solution when in fact it was a formal training creation. This race to the desired outcome was an over promise and when not achieved, L&D repeatedly fell short of expectation in the eyes of leadership.
