At the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale, examining a copy of a Ming-era omenology manual (天元玉曆祥異賦) from 1425, but I think this manuscript dates to the early Qing.

Anyang Museum in Henan Province finished restoration on a local tomb mural depicting a black and white cat (note the bell collar!). Belonging to official Zhao Yigong, the tomb was completed in 829 CE; it's thought to be the earliest Chinese tomb mural of a domestic cat. #caturday

Hōryūji 法隆寺, established in 607, is my favorite temple in the world. The original architecture (the main structures preserve it) is based on the standards of the Sui dynasty and even earlier.

I first visited Tōdaiji 東大寺 in Nara 奈良 in 2005, twenty years ago. My times in Japan have been very formative. I lived in Japan for five years (part of undergrad, all of MA degree, part of PhD).
