Day 17: How the hell does anyone sleep in a VACOped? That was torture. Cast was 100x better. Slept from 3-6:30.

Day 16 s/p Achilles rupture. Have switched from cast to walking boot and am cleared to try 25% weight bearing for a week and start some very gentle PT exercises. Pain finally at a minimum but took about 12 days or so. First week was worst pain of my life. Gunna be a long 12 months. Little victories.

Yeah I don’t think he needs to worry about that.

Day 11 after Achilles tear. Still an incredible amount of calf pain when not elevated. Pain is whatever. Hardest part is not being able to drive and leave the house, no exercising, no sports, no hiking. With fall around the corner (best hiking season in Oregon) it’s really depressing.

Day 9 after my Achilles rupture. Going non-op. Still in a cast and non weight bearing. No pain at rest with leg elevated. Still pretty bad pain when standing. Started some gentle PT aimed at keeping my knee flexible, my quads and hamstrings strong, and wiggling my toes.

So complete Achilles tear but it was highly recommended to me by ortho today to go the non-operative rehab route so I’ve decided not to do surgery but rehab the hell out of it. Tomorrow will be one week since the injury. Pain can be just brutal at times. 10/10 do not recommend.

This is what it’s all about.
