The Truth About Police Shootings: What the Data Actually Says Every year in the United States, police officers fatally shoot approximately 1,000 people, a number that has remained remarkably stable over the past decade. But what actually drives an officer's decision to pull the trigger, and how does the aftermath impact the community? In this video, we dive deep into the comprehensive research surrounding officer-involved shootings, based on Justin Nix’s upcoming review for Critical Issues in Policing.
