The Process of Revolutionary Protest: Development and Democracy in the Tunisian Revolution
The Process of Revolutionary Protest: Development and Democracy in the Tunisian Revolution By Christopher Barrie, New York University Revolutionary protest rarely begins as democratic or revolutionary. Instead, it grows in a process of positive feedback, incorporating new constituencies and generating new demands. If protest is not revolutionary at its onset, theory should reflect this and be able to explain the endogenous emergence of democratic demands.

Finding Meaning in Politics: When Victims Become Activists
Finding Meaning in Politics: When Victims Become Activists By Regina Bateson, University of Colorado - Boulder Victimization is often associated with increased political participation, and victims are influential political actors in many countries around the world. Yet for victims, activism is costly: they tell and re-tell painful stories, face searing criticism, and work to exhaustion—all at one of the worst moments of their lives.

Addressing reviewers' comments for an R&R can be time-consuming and, let’s be honest, a bit intimidating. But seeing how much better my paper has become makes it all worth it. Such a satisfying feeling!!

I am excited to share my new article in Government and Opposition! In this article, I first categorize protests under authoritarianism as either policy- or democracy-focused, based on (1) their primary goals or demands and (2) the specific solutions protesters seek to achieve these goals.
