Just paid an eyewateringly large amount of money as a *deposit* for Enzo's upcoming professional grooming. He is very expensive in this way and I will need to parade him around town to show him off, even more than usual

Just threw a cocktail book in the new cookbook Little Free library that’s sprung up in my neighborhood. I think it counts, they’re recipes too.

Tickets for the fall version of the big fundraising cocktail hour I throw as part of my nonprofit board work are on sale and I get an email notification every time a sale trickles in. Overall, the ticket sales ARE trickling in, which is a most pleasant distraction when that's what you want.

Package No. 2 of this sample sale order never arrived. They eventually sent a replacement after a full month went by, and then the original showed up too. A lagniappe of sorts as a coda to my time of fancy candles.

One of the best things I've done in recent yrs is establish a close friendship with another person who did a career pivot to break into tech. They've got interviews this week for a potentially fantastic job + tbh their potential win feels as good as it would if it were happening for myself.

Mt. Vernon marketplace opening marked the end of my time volunteering at the Walters. I could happily donate my time but paying for parking on top of that was a bridge too far.

I try to loop my partner into my revival filmgoing when I can, but our tastes don't always intersect. We watch The Third Man every time it's screened, and he's also enjoyed The Thin Man (and sequel). Glad to add Yojimbo to our movie venn diagram.

Growing up I loved collecting things for my future adult life (paid for with own money, started working at 12), and my parents would punish me by taking them. So I just got a replacement serving set for the flatware I like, which was something I had bought once when young and never got back.

Took advantage of the Trazodone Zone to trim the back dewclaws, aka the areas that Shall Not Be Touched, and even in an altered state there are Feelings about this

My neighbor is looking for an English tutor for their 10 year old. Sounds like they want to get them comfortable with close reading, critical thinking, understanding themes, etc. Kid is polite and friendly. If y’all know of anyone plz lmk!

Made it out of the revival film screening in time for my favorite breakfast sandwich with five minutes to spare - the tiniest Saturday victory.

Had some pals over for tinned fish snacks. Grateful for the chance to return a small bit of the hospitality they’ve extended to us. Apero hour style was overall a pretty affordable way to entertain.

I used my already booked PTO that was initially meant for a Chicago trip to instead head down to VA for Dark Star Park day Friday. Alas, too overcast for the shadow alignment, but not that hard to get to, so maybe next year.

Quickest way to plunge my mood straight into the abyss is to learn that people were in our bar talking about the old, evil bar - the one we put our nest egg into and got totally screwed out of. It took us years to recover from that - we barely did. I will never truly 'be cool' about it.
