It's very funny that the explanation for Bowser Jr.'s absence from the first animated Super Mario Bros. movie was "He was busy at boarding school (which he got expelled from)", because I think that'd also explain his aggro and villainous personality in the Galaxy movie, at least a little bit.

I finally got the opportunity to watch the Super Mario Galaxy movie, and I thought it was quite fun. It looked really gorgeous, and it focused a lot more on Peach than I’d expected. Basically every named character in it has aura, it almost felt a bit absurd. The movie ends with Luma child labor.

I looked at the cover art of Wonder Project J2 earlier and thought "Doesn't this resemble Lunar 2 in some way?". As it turns out, Akihiko Yamashita was the character designer for Wonder Project J2, and one of the key illustrators of the bromides in Lunar 2. Apparently I could sense the connection.
