There should be a high bar for politicians attacking the media, but maybe Ed Davey has half a point here? For example, the first three paragraphs of this BBC story repeat Reform's £243bn figure without saying that the thinktank behind the estimate now disowns it. (This is mentioned in paragraph 35)

I am FoI'ing the BBC on some issues to do with Israel-Gaza. DG Tim Davie told MPs on Mar 4: āPart of what I have tried to do for the BBC is to be a guardian of true impartiality through thick and thin, and that requires being completely transparent.ā But the BBC has so far withheld this information

If youāre drawn to a politician because they promise to be cruel to Muslims or Jews or immigrants or gays or transgender people etc, the least you should do - the absolute, bare bones, still morally vacuous least - is ask yourself whether theyāre likely to stop at the group you want to see targeted.
