My Norwegian-style vossaøl that I brewed in December earned a bronze medal in this year's Cascade Brewers Cup! Juniper infusion with spruce tips and orange esters from the kveik yeast. Thanks to @larsga.bsky.social for his Historical Brewing Styles book which inspired me to try this style!

My most experimental brew to date! “Tervahauta” was brewed with mild and graham cracker malts, Challenger, Cascade and Hersbrucker hops, and a moderate dose of pine tar aroma syrup from Finland. Co-fermented with Kölsch yeast and sourdough starter.

Decided to crack open and taste my barleywine from last winter (relic, 2023). Hazy appearance, deep amber color. Aroma of dried fruit and caramel. Smooth mouthfeel with light carbonation. Taste has notes of apricot, more caramel and molasses. Definitely a sipper at 14.5% too! Happy holiday!
