The problem with reviewing a long-form strategy game is that I'm several hours into a run and there's been ONE fight so far, which I simply retreated my single scout from. The rest has been micromanagement and trade negotiations; hardly "thrilling" gameplay. :P

...BTW, in case anyone is curious, I have had to ban a grand total of 43 users from posting comments on my YouTube videos since I started the channel in 2014. I think of it like de-weeding a garden; If you don't pull the weeds you will ultimately have tons of weeds and no garden. :P

Today's one of those rare days where I had to ban an actual person from posting comments on my channel. Reminder: If someone has to resort to insults to get their point across, they don't actually give a damn about what anyone else in the discussion says. :/

You know... I can't remember the last time I actually bought a game published by EA... ...oh wait, I remember now... it was the original Windows release of Mass Effect way back in the mid-2010s which I believe I got for only $5~$10 CAD and then failed to ever install/play. :P

Something I find absolutely ridiculous... If I were to put out a list of every channel on YouTube I watch or used to watch, even put my own channel in there, and then told a group of 10,000,000 people to each pick one and give a reason to not watch it, EVERYONE on that list would be unwatchable. :/

Hrm... so... the next game for ADG does some really egregious palette cycling just as a matter of course. It's just barely tolerable for me and I imagine some people will get a headache trying to look at it, plus since it happens across an entire moving playfield I can't easily blot it out. :/

"It's complicated" is a great answer for me because whether I need inverted X depends on the game, while for most games I need inverted Y but there are some weird exceptions, particularly when the controls do not directly affect the motion of the camera.

So... after spending some time learning to use GIMP I was able to find a plugin interface called G'MIC-Qt which exposed the ability to mathematically adjust the pixels of HDR images through code. I was then able to write my own processing function to clamp HDR to a higher luminance value than 1.0...

Curious... One "solution" to my "sun is in my shadows" woes is to convert the HDRI background into a normal colour space. While this does work, it also eliminates some of the shine effects on reflections... ...I have to figure out how to simply get a "less intense" HDRI result... hmmmmm...

Urg... I ran into a CONSIDERABLE visual issue migrating from Godot Engine 4.4 to 4.5. After spending HOURS trying to find some way to work around it, I simply can't. I have to go back to Godot Engine 4.4, and the worst part is... I don't think this was a bug but an intentional change. :(

Interesting... I noticed while testing some stuff with Project AB today that friction in the GodotPhysics engine actually bogs it down; Reducing friction when you don't need it helps physics objects process faster! :o

Heads up that the next ADG Pro is going to be a bit tricky to edit together and may not be up until pretty late tonight. The plan is to start editing around 7:30 PM EDT, and I suspect it'll take 3~5 hours to edit, then an hour to both render and upload, so absolute latest it'll go up is 2:00 AM EDT.

After three days of effort I FINALLY have a particular object implemented into Project AB which was Hell to get working... ...and yet all it functionally does is SPIN. :P I'll have pictures at some point but I'm a bit burned out on it at the moment. >_<

One thing I've noticed over the past while since switching from HDDs to SSDs is that the vast majority of the time people report failures, it's due to overheating, as the M.2 slot has incredible bandwidth compared to SATA. ...my SSDs are on SATA though... I NEVER see their temps exceed 37 c. :B
