So, while migrating Project AB's physics over to Jolt, I discovered a... "slight" problem with something I was doing... The easiest way I found to produce the kinetic force of an explosion was to produce an intense anti-gravity field from the explosion point for a single frame... ...but...

So nearly two hours ago there was a power flicker followed by a distant, loud, explosive sound... >_>; Since there were huge power outages in a section of the city my best guess is a transformer blew out just far enough to only cause our power to flicker... internet only JUST came back though. :P

Everyone must be sleeping in today; My timeline barely had any posts between going to bed and waking up. :P

FIFTEEN HOURS AND TWENTY EIGHT MINUTES ...this is how much raw game time it took to beat the entirety of the game for the next ADG Pro going for a minimum winning score... ...a game which can normally be beaten on the same skill setting in about 2 to 3 hours... *dies*

Project AB work for today amounted to finishing up the UI aliasing issue and also modifying how popup menus are presented in VR so that they appear in more suitable positions based on where you're looking and what you're doing. :B

I am now 2/3 through the minimum score run for the next ADG Pro... ...this otherwise fun game is a NIGHTMARE to try and get a minimum score on... some levels I can do it on my first try in under two minutes... some take a freaking HOUR despite all levels being similar in size... >_<

I'm still on an original Switch, not a Switch 2, and Metroid Prime 4 looks great and runs a solid 60 FPS... ...so... what the heck does the "Switch 2 Edition" do for the game? Is it literally just a paywall for an "Ultra" graphics setting or mouse controls? Things that are FREE in PC games? >_>

Spent a large chunk of this evening fixing single-pixel aliasing issues with the UI in Project AB. See... I'm thinking ahead and developing my UI with 4K assets but ensuring that those assets look right at 1080p as well... and I somehow missed that mark... though it's not ENTIRELY my fault...

I think one of the things which confuses some people as to if I'm Canadian or American is I frequently flip-flop between certain spellings/pronunciations of some things. I sometimes say "Zed", I sometimes say "Zee". I sometimes say "soda", I sometimes say "pop". ...though I NEVER say "aboot"... :P

Annnnnnnd.... Windows failed to update itself to the latest major version. >_>; I took half a dozen restarts for it to undo all of the changes it made... then I tried again, it failed again, took 3 restarts to undo the changes. Guess it doesn't want me to update it. :P

Well this is incredibly annoying... My Rift S headset has just stopped working. EVERYTHING lights up properly, the sensors clearly work, the connections are fine, it just... won't light up the display, with the link software only saying there's a "Guardian" issue, which... doesn't make sense...???

Portals are coming along. Next step is to integrate it into the existing editing system so I can move it and such, as well as make it possible to change the portal colour to whatever you want. There's also particles and the glow effect pulses in and out. :B

So I'm finally getting a chance to play Metroid Prime 4. I'm a little over an hour in and my main concern isn't the sidekick Samus unintentionally ends up with, but rather... it's giving me a LOT of powerups very quickly... I do like that you can totally customize the controls though. :B

Still working on the model for the portals in Project AB... I think I like this approach better, having the spires twist in place while connecting to a smaller ring up top. Also, each spire twists the exact same amount; It's an optical illusion that the leftmost twists more than the rightmost. ;)

While I wait for 8:00 PM EDT to make the next ADG public I've been conceptualizing what the portals in Project AB will look like which link the various worlds together... Not completely liking the shape but not quite sure how to make it better...? The cylinder is a stand-in for a 6-foot-tall person.

My uncle was sure he still had this Jazz Jackrabbit (2) promotional pluche/toy somewhere, but was afraid he lost it over the years. Recently he found it and he gave it to me for my birthday. They're pretty rare I believe. Happy to have one! #jazzjackrabbit

Something I've noticed as I've been working with Material Maker is that the normal maps produced by it look fine in Material Maker itself, but do not look correct in Godot Engine without extra conversion steps first...? Material Rotator tool implemented! :D Again, due to weird ways I had to implement this for optimization sake it made more sense to have this on a separate tool compared to having the feature on the Creation Tool you normally use to create and texture the world.

BTW: Here's something "not at all confusing" when you start digging into the depths of 3D gamedev... There are two colour spaces: sRGB and Linear Both range from black 0.0 to white 1.0. So which one produces middle grey at 0.5? HINT: NOT THE ONE YOU THINK IT SHOULD BE. >_<

All this work on a new model and tool just to rotate textures on walls and floors and stuff. :P I thought about incorporating texture rotation into the Creation Tool in Project AB, but there's a number of reasons why it made more sense to put that functionality into a separate tool. :B

I hate when people get tricked into doing stupid stuff like this! NEVER EVER use a video game grading company to seal new consoles that include batteries. You're basically locking a battery inside a sealed plastic coffin that will either expand, leak, or explode. Beyond incredibly dumb. 🤦‍♂️
